We have received 2,500 hedge whips of various species from two generous donors, National Highways and The Tree Council. We have sites for planting, the SVA’s Gilchrist Field and Knapp Nature Reserve where they will help nature connectivity, and Farway Common Airfield where they will not only help nature, but also contribute to the River Sid Catchment Group’s rainwater attenuation project. All we need now are people with wellies and spades or garden forks to get them planted.
Group hedge planting is good for the environment, but it is also good for you. A chance for some healthy exercise, a chance to join with and contribute to your local community, and a chance to help the local environment.
We will be planting on Saturday and Sunday 7th and 8th December from 10am. We usually work for about four hours so, if you can join us for an hour or two, or more, either from 10.00 or a bit later then do let us know.
