The weather finally broke this morning and allowed us to plant more of the hedge whips donated generously by National Highways through The Tree Council at the Stoney Orchard Growing Community near the Hare and Hounds. More soon.
We we hope to be planting more hedge whips at Farway Common Airfield 10:00am on Friday 6th March. Many of you have been before as the owners develop the wildlife potential of this fascinating site.
Again, we will be working from 10-00-2:00 but you don’t have to do the whole day, we will be delighted if you just do as much as you can.
It is a really worthwhile way of spending a few hours, good exercise, good company, and doing something very useful. All you need is boots (the ground will be wet) gardening gloves and a spade.
The Airfield is at the top of Sidbury’s Hatway Hill, but the easiest access is up to the Hare and Hounds, right onto Seaton Road, past Fowler’s Farm Shop and the Knapp Copse Nature Reserve, past Roncombe Lane on the right and then right at the crossroads and the airfield is 400m along the road through the gateway just past the farm buildings. There are toilets and coffee available in the hangar.
