One of the small Monkey Puzzles (Araucaria araucana) in the park of Knowle was in the way of the flood alleviation work and so we moved it today.  It was planted three years ago, paid for by a generous grant from the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust and was going to be the start of a Jurassic copse to mark Sidmouth’s place on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.  The flood work put that on hold but the small tree has been moved near to the larger Monkey Puzzle in the garden area.  It will be joined by other trees with fossil links to the Jurassic Period, a Wollemi Pine and a Parana Pine, some time soon.
