Four sessions are coming up that need our volunteers’ help.

The planting season is with us.  We hope the nearly 300 young trees donated by Devon Wildlife Trust and given out last Saturday are now safely in the ground.
We have been given 3,000 hedging whips courtesy of National Highways and The Tree Council.  These will be used to create hedges around key parts of the valley as wildlife corridors and to contribute to the River Sid Catchment Group’s project to slow surface water run off after heavy rain and so reduce the risk of town centre flooding and safeguard the quality of the river.
It is a really worthwhile way of spending a few hours, good exercise, good company, and doing something very useful.  All you need is gardening gloves and a spade.

The first session will be at Farway Common Airfield

10:00am on Saturday 29th November

Many of you have been before as the owners develop the wildlife potential of this fascinating site.

We will be working from 10-4 but you don’t have to do the whole day, we will be delighted if you just do as much as you can.
The Airfield is at the top of Sidbury’s Hatway Hill, but the easiest access is up to the Hare and Hounds, right onto Seaton Road, past Fowler’s Farm Shop and the Knapp Copse Nature Reserve, then second turning on the right and the airfield is 400m along.

Look out for details of the other sessions, Saturday 13th December at Cotford outside Sidbury, and 4th and 11th January at Stoney Orchard up near the Hare and Hounds.
